Terry
Glenny brings a dazzling new concept to the concert stage - a rock
violinist extraordinaire performs classic rock favorites but with
a twist – his 5-String Electric Violin is accompanied by full
symphony orchestra and blazing rhythm section! The already great Classic
Rock songs are arranged by Terry Glenny to create grand and exhilarating
new musical vistas for these masterworks of the late 60’s and
early 70’s.
A
classical violinist turned outlaw, he turns his custom-made electric
five-string violin into an instrument of wild abandon creating fantastic,
exotic sounds. He has a high energy, captivating performance that
has even lead to jumping off the stage into the audience! Glenny's
inventive arrangements of Classic Rock songs such as Jimmy Hendrix's
Purple Haze, The Moody Blues’ Nights In White Satin and Steppenwolf's
Born To Be Wild have brought audiences to their feet chanting for
more!
This is
the
TERRY GLENNY
SYMPHONIC ROCK EXPERIENCE!
Glenny
is a versatile composer, arranger and producer as well as preeminent
Electric Violinist and continues to create arrangements for electric
violin, symphony orchestra and rhythm section of some of the most
beloved classics from the Age of Rock and Roll.
Other arrangements
in his repertoire include Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin, Deep
Purple’s Hush, Sunshine Of Your Love and Badge by Cream, White
Bird by It’s A Beautiful Day (which is a duet with Solo Cello)
and Ina-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly; Amazing Journey (from Tommy)
by The Who, plus an original composition entitled Pillars Of Olympus
which has been a hit at every performance.
Audience
participation is encouraged and they always delight in singing along
with a charming full orchestra arrangement of Yellow Submarine by
the Beatles.
Among the
musical surprises the listener may encounter, this one has provoked
a number of inquiries: Why the odd quote of the opening to Mozart
4th Violin Concerto in the middle of Purple Haze? On several occasions,
Terry has been a soloist with the Orange County Symphony including
a performance of Mozart's 4th Violin Concerto the month before his
premiere with them of the Symphonic Rock Experience. This explains
the inside joke with orchestra members and the revisiting audience
by quoting the opening of the 4th Mozart Concerto in the middle of
Purple Haze!
Terry has
exhibited tremendous musical diversity since his high school days
when he soloed with orchestra playing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto
while concurrently playing Johnny Winter and Rolling Stones songs
in a blues rock band.
He has
since played with such rock notables including Mike Pinera (Iron Butterfly,
Blues Image), Matt Sorum (Guns & Roses), Abe Laboriel, Alex Acuna,
Don Preston, John Cale, Tony Franklin (The Firm), Chris North (Ambrosia),
and Bobby Kimball (Toto).
